The children were so engaged because they wanted to help me tell the story the next time. I also used voice changing as I read this gives the children the since of the different characters throughout the story. The modification I would for this story with younger children would be using paper bag puppets to gain their attention. The white paper bags will have the different objects placed on them to give my listeners a visual idea what the story is talking about and after the story is done both techniques can be placed in the library area and the children can retell the story with their classmates. I think that I need to improve my ideas for read aloud time and come up with more great ideas to keep my class engaged during story time.
