Week 1: Section 1: Introduction to Operating Systems
Windows
Windows 7 operating system was produced for personal computers, business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs. This version was released on October 22, 2009, which was less than three years that Windows Vista was released. Windows 7 upgraded design worked with Windows Vista applications and its hardware. A few of Windows 7 new features are the advances in touch and handwriting recognition. It supports RAW image format with the addition of Windows Imaging Component. This enables previewing and metadata display in Internet explorer. Also full size viewing for slideshows in Windows Photo Viewer.
Linux
Ubuntu is a common version of Linux founded by Mark Shuttleworth. This version is known to be one of the easiest to install and easier learn for first-time users. Ubuntu stems from an African word meaning “humanity to others”. Ubuntu’s versatility makes it able to run on servers, laptops, and netbooks. The perks of Ubuntu is that its free of charge, people have the freedom to customized and alter their software anyway they like. Every 6 months there is a new Ubuntu release. The newest release of Ubuntu is set to release on April 18,2013.

Was not clear on the screen shot portion of the IP so I found a picture of the OS I mentioned in the assignment.
Week 2: Section 2: Components of a Computer System
The OS I chose to discuss in this project is Windows Vista. The functions I will discuss is Process and Threads, Memory Management, Process Scheduling, Disk Management.
Process and Threads:
Windows Vista 's process has it 's own address space that consist of code and data. each process contains one or more executing threads.Threads usual factor are the availability of resource of CPUs, memory priority, fairness, etc. Each Thread n a process shares code, global vandal, environment strings, and resource. It 's elements also include:
- A location for procedure call, interrupts, exception handlers, and automatic.
- TLS also known as Thread Local Storage which array pointers giving thread the ability to allocate storage t create its own date and environment.
- A context structure maintained by the kernet with machine freighter values.
Memory Management: For starters Window 's Vista 's memory requirement is 512MB which is rather low. Windows its focus is mainly around geographical interface requirement. Over the years there has been some improvements to Windows Vista 's memory management. One of the features are Dynamic Kernal Address Space. Normally windows applications are constrained by space limits of 32-bit processors. The Dynamic Kernal Address Space feature manages the address space by allocating and delocating space to various uses to meet the needs of the system. This results in the system space growth and shrinkage based on the system 's activity.
Process Scheduling
This tool provides the flexibility to automate desktop task with more reliability and security. Windows Vista modified scheduler use modern processors in order to keep track of how many CPUs cycles a thread. Vista also use a priority scheduler for the I/O queue so that disk defragments don’t interfere with foreground operations.
Disk Managment
Disk management in Windows Vista is to manage the drivers installed on the computer. There are internal and external hard disk drivers, optical disk drives, and flash drives. To access Windows Vista’s Disk Management is located from the Start Menu-Control Panel-System Maintenace-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management,

Every Week: Section 6: Configure Windows 7 and Linux + Prep LabSim Toolkit
For Week 1 I’m going to discuss what I learned from Configuring Windows 7 and Windows Installation Portion of LabSim. I learned that there are 7 Version of Window 7 including: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. Only Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate editions are available through retail channels. All versions of Windows 7 consist of a Firewall. According to LabSim the firewall provides real-time network traffic filtering. It also controls traffic through the network using inbound and outbound rules that can filter traffic on the port and IP address. Home Group is another feature that is found on Windows 7 it’s a system that can share resources and manage authentication to resources on a home or small business network.
During the Installation portion of Windows I learned that there are 4 installations sources to Windows 7, which include: DVD, USB, Network, and Windows Deployment Service. Each of these sources has their own installation process.
One of the questions I struggled with is Question # 1 for the installation exam.
You need to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 onto the computer. You would also like to retain the system and user files from the Windows Vista installation.
Answer: While running setup.exe on the Windows 7 installation media, select the Custom (advanced) option.

If the project is completed on time then there is no risk for completion. All of the regular risks that apply to a project built on time apply to this one regardless of whether you are building a new infrastructure or modifying an older one. If the project is finished one month early, the quantitative risk really does not exist. It is basically comparable to completing the project on time. Since the project is quoted at 3 million dollars it will stay the same regardless of how fast the project is finished. However, you may see differences. When you rush a project this large you could possibly cut corners or receive poor quality results. If the project is finished two months late there are additional risks. If the company expects to make $20 million dollars annually, and assuming that the 4% penalty is levied against this yearly figure and not within smaller period of time, one month late means that US Industries Incorporated loses $800,000 annually. There doesn't appear to be any additional risk, however, further penalties and the possible eventual loss of the contract to a competitor could result in a poor product. There again appears to be no real quantitative risk involved if the project is finished a month early with the security requirements. If the originally quoted $3 million dollars remains the same regardless of how fast the project is finished and not coupled with hourly or daily wages, then there is nothing to lose financially. However the companies go beyond the required 1.5% completion benchmarks that the contract demands. Rushing a project of this scale also comes with rushed results possibly cut corners or poor quality. The credibility of the company is at stake with such a high profile, high income project such as this, and it is important to use all of the time available to ensure the best product is on display for any customer. The finished project should meet both the time and security requirements but not the service agreement. There does not…

As you can see that from the header the name of the company in which I choose to select is called International Goods 2 Go. Yes, this is a fictional company that focuses on the importing and exporting of goods internationally. International Goods 2 Go, seeks to establish long term customer relationships by bridging our customer 's needs with our supplier 's capabilities being mindful of all environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements. International Goods 2 Go will continually expand our knowledge of specific industries and provide successful logistical solutions for our customers. The reason why I chose to do a company like this because I have been working in logistics for quite some time now and this industry really drives me and keeps me motivated. I liked the idea of the company being international because I believe in the benefits of building relationships overseas are as follows:…
