Not every culture’s technological advancements are the same, and this can be related to what materials were dominate in their area of existence. When Italy was considered the Roman Empire, they had one of the largest and strongest armies. This was achieved by being able to craft a vast array of weapons and armors, out of the natural materials that were located in Italy. Not only will this impact ones cultural development internally, but it also opens up a door to other cultures that want to trade. The Italian culture is full of arts, family, architecture, music and food. Roughly about 96% of Italy, is actually composed up of Italians. Italy borders the countries of France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. Italy is also neighboring Sardinia and Sicily through the Mediterranean Sea. Although 93% of Italy speaks Italian as their primary source of communication, because of all these bordering cultures it has created many different variations of dialects (Zimmermann, K. A., 2017). Italy is famously known for being shaped like a boot. Italy is one third covered by mountain ranges. Some of the famous mountain ranges that make up Italy are the Alps, the Dolomites, and the Appenines. The Padan Plain covers more than 44,000 of the 77,000 square kilometers of Italy’s plain land. This plain is home to the largest river known as the Po River, which provides vital irrigation to Italian agriculture. There are 1,500 lakes throughout Italy. A majority of these lakes provide hydroelectric capabilities, which power a vast amount of Italy.
