After viewing the documentary Boys of Baraka, Cosby makes two of many claims. His first claim is that having people watch over you and make sure your on task with your education and acting appropriately will make you a success. His second claim is that people need to act and save kids, like the Baraka students! I agree with both of Cosby’s claims because every student has the potential to succeed and the Baraka students and Cosby are proof of that.…

Throughout William Golding's “Lord of the Flies” many characters undergo certain changes, some more drastic than others. Jack is the antagonist, who is the primary representation of savagery in the novel. As the story progresses, it is shown how dynamic and multidimensional Jack is, he goes through both physical and emotional changes which separates him from most of the characters. Jack doesn’t start out as an aggressive and savage character, but as he is faced with challenging tasks like killing and hunting the pigs, his mental state then shifts to a more combative and turbulent mode. “The tall boy shouted at them. Choir! Stand Still” (Golding 20), which shows that before Jack was corrupted he obtained the character trait of leadership…

Since no one wanted to be the first one in this apparatus, Damadian volunteered to be the first patient. When he climbed into the device, nothing happened; Damadian was looking at years wasted on a failed invention, but one of his colleagues bravely suggested that he might be a bit large for the machine. After blowing some dust off the counter and inscribed plaque, you may find writings by a brilliant man. As you look out the window of an abandoned bus that was made into a temporary shelter in the Alaskan bush, located in the vast of white wilderness, you may wonder, “What was Christopher McCandless thinking?” McCandless began his fatal journey in 1990 after graduating from Oxford University and always had an urge to move and be nomadic. When Jon Krakauer published an article regarding Chris McCandless’ death in the Outside magazine, letters began pouring in from all around the nation. Many people believed Chris was a hero for following his dreams while others, like Craig Medred, believed Chris was a dumb teenager who hurt himself and others around him. In his article “McCandless’ Story Isn’t Really Told in the Book or the Film,” Craig Medred concludes Chris was mentally ill. Medred argues that Krakauer simply romanticized a schizophrenic man for solely one purpose: to benefit his writing; however, I disagree with Medred’s allegations to Krakauer and McCandless and believe Chris did what he felt was right: follow his dream.…
