The Jack Dempsey comes in a wide of variety of shades of mostly blue and green and a grayish color of colors. Another cool thing is that it has a weird electric blue color that comes from a genetic mutation. It is also smaller and less aggressive than the normal one. Its definitely one of the most colorful cichlids.

Behavior
Jack Dempseys are very anti social fish. In fact they don't like when other male jack dempseys are in a tank together they will stare at each other until one runs away or they fight .They are also very territorial for example if you put another fish into a Jack Dempsey aquarium you will be sad. But the females are less aggressive.
Reproduction
Jack Dempseys like to lay eggs on flat surfaces like rocks and bottoms of aquariums. Like most cichlids take exceptional care of their babies. Both parents help incubate their eggs and guard them. They also pre chew food for thier babies. However the do eat sometimes eat their babies when the parents are disturbed or when the environment changes.
