Jackson Square was originally called the Place D’Armes when it was built in 1721 by Adrien Pauger, the famous engineer who helped design the Vieux Carre. It is surrounded by historic landmarks including the stunning St. Louis Cathedral. It sits directly in front of Saint Louis Cathedral in the heart of the Vieux Carre. Daily hours are from 8 am to 7 pm. In winter months, the park closes at 6 pm.
