The Bennet sisters, Jane and Elizabeth, are both alike. Both Jane and "Lizzy", as family and friends call her, are very amiable. Since they are the oldest they learned it well from their parents as they still worried just of them. Also, both Jane and Elizabeth are very beautiful young ladies. As described in the book, "Mr. …show more content…
Collins had only to change from Jane to Elizabeth - - and it was soon done - - done while Mrs. Bennet was stirring the fire. Elizabeth, equally next to Jane in birth and beauty, succeeded her of course". This is written in the book talking about Mr. Collins. He had chosen Jane to be his future wife, but Jane's mother had said she "was likely to be very soon engaged", so he chose Elizabeth as she was "equally" beautiful as Jane. As they both have similarities, they are both different. Jane Bennet, is a very shy and modest young woman. As for Elizabeth, she is a very outspoken person. Jane is generous and gentle while Elizabeth is judgmental. Elizabeth is known in being able to judge a person once met. Jane is known for seeing the good in everyone no matter what. In the book it says, "The possibility of his having really endured such unkindness, was enough to interest all her tender feelings; and nothing therefore remained to be done, but to think well of them both, to defend the conduct of each, and throw into the account of accident or mistake, whatever could not be otherwise explained". Here it is describing what Jane was thinking when Elizabeth was telling her the situation between Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham. Jane thought of the good in each person and decided there had to be reason. Meanwhile, Elizabeth had already judged Mr. Darcy from what Mr. Wickham had said. This accumulates who would be more successful in the real world and which sister is stronger when it comes to handling the pressure of personal relationships.
One of the sisters would be more successful in the modern world.
That sister would have to be Elizabeth. Elizabeth is very strong, says what is on her mind, and is very social. Elizabeth knows when to say no and can think really fast in tight situations. For example, a model modern woman would be Michelle Obama. Michelle is a very powerful woman. She is intelligent and strong. She is helping to change our nation for the better. Elizabeth could become successful in the modern world with her witty personality and strong attitude. With Elizabeth social personality, she could get a lot of people on her side and help make herself …show more content…
known.
One of the Bennet sisters is stronger than the other and when it comes to handling the pressure of personal relationships.
That sister would have to be Elizabeth. Elizabeth is an outspoken person and tells all that she see as she sees. Jane is a shy person and keeps to herself. If she would to be pressure she would not say anything. As for Elizabeth she would be stronger and approach the situation. In the book it says, " " I might as well enquire," replied she, "why, with so evident a design of offending and insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your will, against your reason, and even against your character? Was not this same excuse for incivility, if I was uncivil? But I have provocations. You know I have. Had not my own feelings decided against you, had they been indifferent, or had they even been favorable, do you think that any consideration would tempt me to accept the man, who has been the means of ruining, perhaps for ever, happiness of a most beloved sister"". This is being said by Elizabeth when proposed by Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth had the choice to be with Mr. Darcy, but she was strong enough to reject his proposal for herself and sister. Elizabeth rejected his proposal because of him, because of how she sees him as a person. He talked Mr. Bingley into not being with Elizabeth's sister Jane. As for Jane, she would have conformed with the situation and settle with the proposal if she were to be in the situation. That saying, Elizabeth is stronger
than Jane when handling the pressure of personal relationships, as she put her feelings aside.
Both Bennet sister have similarities and differences. They are both very amiable and beautiful. Elizabeth can handle the pressure of person relationships. While she can handle that pressure, she can also handle herself in the modern world. Jane is very shy, while Elizabeth is very social. Elizabeth can handle being in the modern world with her strong attitude. Elizabeth can handle the pressure of personal relationships, as Jane could not.
