ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
You should use this Journal Article Review Exercise Response Sheet to complete the Journal Article Review Exercise. Download and save a copy of the response sheet, complete the form using a word processing program, and then save the response sheet. Print a hard copy for submission and submit an electronic copy via MYLO. You must submit both copies of the assignment by 2.00pm on 26th September 2011.
ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS
The Journal Article Review Exercise requires you to conduct academic literature research on ONE of the following topics (these are the same topics for the Essay Assignment; refer to pg. 14 of the unit outline):
Topic 1: Benchmarking
Describe the concept of benchmarking. Explain how benchmarking helps managers improve organisational planning and performance. What factors can undermine the value of benchmarking? Use examples to support your discussion.
Topic 2: Leadership
Describe the concept of transformational leadership. Explain how a transformational leader motivates their followers. Why might someone resist following a transformational leader? Use examples to support your discussion.
To complete the Journal Article Review Exercise, you will need to do each of the following:
1. Find an academic journal publication You will need to use the library catalogue and databases to find an academic publication relating to ONE of the essay topics (refer to page 14 of the unit outline).
2. Correctly reference the academic journal publication You will need to use the Harvard Reference Style Guide (available at http://www.utas.edu.au/mgmt/student.htm) to provide correct in-text and reference list citations for the article you selected. As proof of your ability to locate critical student resources for use in BMA101, you are required to submit a hard-copy of the
