Early Life
Jason Derulo’s full name is Jason Joel Desrouleaux. He was born September 21, 1989, Miami, Florida U.S. He’s an American singer, songwriter, choreographer, dancer and rapper. He became known for his double-Platinum hit, 'Whatcha Say,' which samples the Imogen Heap song 'Hide and Seek.' He studied opera and ballet at the Dillard Center for the Arts and began writing songs for Diddy and Danity Kane when he was sixteen. Jason’s career started after writing hits for the likes of Lil Wayne, Pit-bull, Diddy, Sean Kingston, Cassie, and Danity Kane. He released his second album, Future History, in 2011 and it reached #1 on the UK R&B Charts. He was in a long-term relationship with Jordan Sparks but the couple separated in 2014. He earned his first opportunity in the music industry by writing and producing songs for Lil Wayne’s record label.

The song took off overseas quickly becoming a #1 hit in the UK, Germany, Australia, France, Belgium and New Zealand before taking over the US radio charts in January 2014. Following his 2009 self-titled debut, the 25-year old Miami native has since received nods from the Teen Choice Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards, the MOBO Awards, and five honors at the BIM Pop Awards including Songwriter of the Year in 2011.
