Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is a soccer player who plays for Manchester United and the Mexican National team . He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico . He began playing in a league when he was seven years old . His father was formerly a striker for the Mexican national team . His father even admitted that he never believed his son had a chance to go pro . At only age nine, Chicharito joined a local club, C.D. Guadalajara . And at only fifteen he signed his first professional contract . In 2005 Javier was set to play in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, but do to an injury he was unable to be a part of the eventual victorious Mexican team . Hernandez’s debut for Mexico was in September 2009 . This was a match against Colombia . He also played for Mexico at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup . He was the leading scorer in the tournament with 7 goals . In addition he was named the MVP of the tournament . At only age twenty-five, Hernandez is the third highest goal-scorer in the Mexican national team’s history . Hernandez went on to become the first ever Mexican player signed by Manchester United.
