Jaw range of motion exercises are exercises that help your jaw move better. These exercises can help prevent:
• Difficulty opening your mouth.
• Pain in your jaw while it is both open and closed.
WHAT SHOULD I BE CAREFUL OF WHEN DOING JAW EXERCISES?
Make sure that you only do jaw exercises as directed by your health care provider. You should only move your jaw as far as it can go in each direction, if told to do so by your health care provider. Do not move your jaw into positions that cause you any pain.
WHAT EXERCISES SHOULD I DO?
• Stick your jaw forward. Hold this position for 1–2 seconds. Allow your jaw to return to its normal position and rest it there for 1–2 seconds. Do this exercise 8 times.
