Jazz music was an African American form of music derived from a mix of blues, ragtime. It was created in in the 1920’s solely for entertainment and the love of the sounds colliding with each other to make a tune .The "Jazz Age" was a period of many Political, Economic and Social changes when Americans cast aside old social conventions in favor of new ideas.(history) When the style of music “ jazz “ was created, it traveled fast. It went from New Orleans, to Chicago, to New York and also to Kansas city. New York also saw a great influx of jazz talent. Chicago Jazz emerged and evolved along a similar timeline as Chicago Blues in the early to mid-twentieth century. Its artists and influence inspired a new generation of music; modern rock, pop, and more all have roots in Chicago jazz and owe much to its founders and its influence from it’s New Orleans roots , it’s style also stemmed from Mississippi. Brass bands had became very popular and intriguing all across New Orleans and the rest of the country. Jazz was used in Mardi Gras celebrations it built up entertainment purposes . Mardi gras was a celebration period before fasting season of lent , it usually happens after ash wednesday . Jazz was also used in different types of churches and , military marching bands .
