Jazz impacts on society
Jazz I chose the form of dance called Jazz because it is the most fun to work with. Jazz dance is more of my style because it isn’t slow, it’s more of an upbeat exciting dance to learn. I’m more interested in hip-hop instead of slow boring dances. Jazz can really keep you entertained also. Jazz is much different from any other dance you’ll learn, and in my opinion the best dance. Instead of learning one dance, Jazz is all the dances put together, and that is why it is the most fun of all. Jazz is more interesting then other dances such as ballet, or tap. It plays more entertaining music to keep the audience entertained and more tuned in, in my opinion. In jazz you have more freedom then you do in most other forms of dances. Jazz is also more of a comfortable dance. In most other dances there is a definite set of body positions. Also in Jazz you can incorporate many different dances into it and is done to faster more music that people listen to today. Jazz dancing also has more sudden moves. Also, for example ballet, you have to be very tight with your moves and there is only one way of doing them. Where as Jazz there is a variety of different moves, ways of doing the moves, and is a much more looser, easier dance. For me personally, I feel so free in jazz dance. Where in ballet, tap, or modern I feel like 1 move throws the entire dance off. Jazz is also the biggerstress reliever out of modern, tap, and ballet for me.

As a conclusion I say Jazz is my favorite form of dancing and is the most fun to learn. It’s an upbeat, entertaining and exciting dance to learn. It’s a dance of freedom, and really can take your mind off of things. The music that comes along with it is so much fun to dance to. Also has a variety of different styles, moves, and songs, Jazz incorporates many different dances into it, which in my opinion makes it the best. All together Jazz is much more exciting and interesting. Jazz is the most fun to work with.

When I think of Jazz I think of a small group of performers usually consisting of a trumpet, saxophone, and a small drum normally, enacting on the sidewalk or small building. It also brings to mind a poetry slam where everyone is snapping their fingers and there is a drum accompanying the one who is sharing poetry. The Swinging River Jazz band is a more modern jazz performance and was a little different than what I expected as far as the size and the arrangement. Jazz it a lot more classical now. I really like both the old version of it and the new version of it.…

Blues, work songs, ragtime, spirituals, and minstrel songs were, in their own ways, all part of the great "Africanization of American music" that was originated by enslaved Africans in the southern United States. But the greatest of the musical forms developed in this process was jazz--one of the major American contributions to world culture. Each of these forms of music made essential contributions to the development of jazz itself but each, more or less, retained its own integrity and none could be said to have been transformed into jazz. What differentiated Jazz from these earlier styles was the widespread use of improvisation, often by more than one player at a time. Jazz represented a break from Western musical traditions, where the composer…

I started dancing before I can remember, but I have been told that I was just about three. I started out at a studio that I cannot remember, doing ballet and tap. Yet, because my entire class would have been so young it can hardly be considered dance, but rather a general physical activity with friends. When I was about to turn six my entire family moved, so I changed studios to the one I am at. I still only did tap and ballet for about three years, when I started to fall behind because everyone else was taking jazz and contemporary. So when I was going to be turning nine I started jazz and contemporary. They were all so different, but they all were quite similar (except for tap, that was pretty different). When I was asked which was my favorite I could not decide because I liked them all for different reasons. I liked jazz because I now…
