There are various ports spread across the 7 emirates. Each emirate has port of different sizes catering to various types of businesses with somewhat different policies and tariffs. DP World is the largest marine terminal and port operator in the Middle East. Its portfolio includes Jebel Ali port, Mina Rashid, Fujairah container terminal and Mina Al Hamriya.

It has been named as the world’s most productive port in the latest report from the US-based Journal of Commerce (JOC).The rankings were based on the average moves of containers per ship, per hour, in 2013. Jebel Ali Port led the industry with an average of 138 moves per vessel hour (MPH). It beats 483 ports world-wide, and even topped the list of the world’s top 25 ports …show more content…
It has also been strategically positioned close to the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz. The port is in the heart of the city, placed so for access to all the industrial areas and free zones of Al Hamra Al Jazeer, Hulayla Island, Al Ghayl and Khor Kwair.
It is located at the entrance to the Ras Al Khaimah creek, hence a unique city centre port. Off late due to increasing interest in leisure activities in the Northern Emirates, the port provides access to a new passenger cruise terminal. It is capable of processing UAE Visa applications, and provides Immigration clearance to departing and arriving passengers. It provides easy access to 5 star beach and desert hotels, international standard golf courses.
