Psychology 1300 -005 Perfect parenting techniques. What is it? Where is it? And how much does it cost? These are questions that many parents long to find and many scientists spend their whole lives trying to study. Long story short, there is not a standard parenting technique that is perfect. Every child is different so parenting techniques have to differ to match their child’s personality. Although parenting techniques differ in so many ways, the popular press and empirically researched both seem to agree that supportive parenting is the key in upbringing children.

The article from Time Magazine, by author Jeffery Kluger, shows that staying involved in a child’s life and supporting them, especially when the child is younger and still has time to develop, is important for molding and raising them. He explains that allowing parents to take control of behavior problems may even prevent conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or depression from fully taking hold (Kluger, 2002). This relates to the empirical article because it shows that parents are a vital role when it comes raising their child. The research also showed how parents have to adapt to their child’s need. Take for instance if a child is deaf; the techniques parents would use on the child that is deaf would be different than the techniques that parents would use on the child who has ADHD.
