Moreover, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for extending on your role as a teacher and becoming a person in which I can confide in. Teachers typically have to work within tremendous constraints. The law does not make it easy for teachers to remove unruly students from their classes, and teachers must often be very creative and diplomatic to maintain control. Teachers are also under tremendous pressure to ensure that their students do well on standardized exams, and yet are often given limited time and materials to accomplish this. The system is, at best, characterized by unfairness. Despite this, many teachers carry on. They follow their calling in life to make a difference, and do something that is meaningful. Acknowledge all of this in your speech, while keeping the focus on the accomplishments of the teacher of…

Although my time at this institution has come to an end, I wanted to thank all of those who made this part of my life unforgettable. Moreover, the deans that taught me the meaning of discipline by making me follow school rules. As a class, we have endured changes throughout the years from being split up in the classroom ( Port Allen on one side and Erwinville on the other) as if we were on the bus with Rosa Parks to being untied, from having a teacher and coming back from Christmas break wondering who was going teach us geometry, a change in administration, down to dances from the dougie to “jiggin” and now to dabbin. Through it all I am glad to say we made it; we survived ebola, Oscar Proud, the Predator, Maleficent. Ms. Morgan’s test, Ms. Roger’ solid advice, and the King of Shade worksheets Mr. Seal’s himself. Also for some of you relationship after relationship. All of these good…

Students will continue on their journey of learning, even when that journey is unbearably painful. We must hold pure intentions in our hearts and be a society of one as we experience every waking minute at Winton Woods. Rather than see ourselves as a series of fractured constituencies, our unity as warriors is a triumphant strength in the face of hate. And to all of the administrators, teachers, and other educators sitting before me, I ask of you one thing – take this job that you have been given and never look back, because even your mistakes will teach your students immensely. Teach them whatever subject you may teach, and then teach them more. Pledge to help those who have entrusted their futures to you, those entities of civilization that you will be proud to have cultivated. And most importantly, remember these words penned by EM Forster, “spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon.” Education is not for the immediate, but rather for the future and those events we have yet to experience. Thank you for your time and attention this morning, and I hope you feel as proud to be a warrior as I…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

Kaplanov Final (Do Not Delete) 11/29/2012 12:48 PM NERDY MONEY: BITCOIN, THE PRIVATE DIGITAL CURRENCY, AND THE CASE AGAINST ITS REGULATION Nikolei M. Kaplanov* I. INTRODUCTION I n 1601, Elizabeth I and her government devalued the Irish coin from nine ounces fine to three ounces fine of silver in order to finance the high cost of the Nine Years War in Ireland.1 This unilateral move by the English government, combined with the failure to remove the old sterling from circulation, caused catastrophic problems throughout Ireland.2 In addition to rapid inflation in common foodstuffs, Irish citizens would only accept the new coin at its reduced intrinsic value rather than its face value. 3 Further, merchants refused to accept the devalued coin in commercial transactions, which led to a shortage of vital goods from England.…
