Jenna's Monologue
Jenna's POV
I was laying in bed just thinking about our conversation today. Do I really want to marry Val? I rolled over and looked at my phone. It was 3am. I slid out of bed and grabbed my phone off the night stand. I was half way out the door when I heard Val say," babe where are you going?" "Restroom. Go back to sleep," I responded. I closed the door behind me and walked across the hall to the bathroom. I closed and locked the door. I called Lindsay, hoping that she would tell me what to do. She's always been the mom of the group. "Hello," she said in a groggy voice. "Hey Linds can we talk?" I asked. "No! What do you have to talk about that couldn't wait until the morning?" She said obviously aggravated. I forgot Lindsay is not a morning person. "But

"Okay. Thank you," I said. "Anytime. Love you," she said. "Love you too. Bye," I responded as I hung up. I unlocked the door and opened it. When I stepped out I noticed Val was standing in front of the door. "Why are you up," I asked. "You never bring you phone to the bathroom and when you do it freaks me out," he said. "Okay?" I said. He looked me in the eyes for a second and the said," do you really not want to get married?" "I...I don't know," I said. "Well it's either all in or all out. I'm not going to be in a relationship where your not 100% committed," he said. "Val," I said as tears formed in my eyes," just give me some time to think please." "No Jen if you aren't going to be committed, how will I know if you'll even show up for the wedding?" He said angrily. "You know what if you don't give me any choice in this, we're through," I said. "Here's your stupid ring. Now get your stuff and get out," I screamed throwing my ring at him. He went into my room and packed up all his stuff and walked out, slamming the door behind him. When I heard the door close, I knew it was over. I fell down and sobbed. A few seconds later I felt someone come hug me. I looked up to see Addison. I fell on her and cried

“Kenbe fem Jennifer pa lage. ” Five words in Creole I heard for the first time at the crack of dawn in the East Harlem Projects. I looked over my shoulder to see if my uncle or aunt were there but I noticed my grandfather leaning against the wall with his cane, next to a picture of his hometown. He looked up at me and winked. I stood in front of him in shock because he had barely spoken to me during the times I stayed with him. I needed someone to translate my grandfather’s Creole for me so I woke up my uncle and hold on tight Jennifer, don’t give up he said. As a seven year old child, I wasn’t holding anything, and what was my grandfather talking about?…

Although most will probably say someone close to them is inspiring, like their mother, grandmother, sister. In my opinion, they are your family, and you will always love and be inspired by them. Therefore I decided to write this on how a singer is inspiring to me. Her name is Miranda Lambert. Almost none of my friends have even heard of her. I guess because maybe she’s a country singer and they don’t really like country music? Who knows, but she is quite an amazing person. She grew up in a small town in Texas. “Not having money toughened me up a bit, but I'll always be grateful. Texas people are really strong in their roots. I started writing and playing guitar at 17. I've always loved music, and my dad is a singer-songwriter.” Miranda once…

We talked a lot about anything and everything; nothing really stands out here other then me saying, “I think it’s cool that you have a really happy marriage.” I genuinely thought that at the time, and well I still think it’s an okay marriage, but I didn’t realize the problems at the time. So at the end of the working day we had gone back to my Auntie’s house, I would have gone back to my Grandma’s, but I wanted to see my cousin Jordan first. When we got there Aunt Jackie had decided to drink a beer and show Jordan her “vampire” bite which she had gotten from a dog. Jordan and I decided to go talk for a little bit while Aunt Jackie and Uncle Roger relaxed. The drama didn’t start until evening came…

He was terribly sweet, and groovy looking, but kind of adolescent, ya know what I mean? Girls mature faster than boys, boys are neater, but girls mature faster. When we met, it was like fireworks! Its only been like two or three months and we're getting married?! I'm not even out of high school! I've got two big exams tomorrow and they were on my mind too.. and then I hear the words, "Do you Jack, take Jill, to be your lawful wedded wife?" UGH!!! Can you imagine going through life as "Jack and Jill" ?! Then I hear, "Until death do us part." And all of the sudden, its not even a wedding anymore, more like a funeral service! And there I am being buried alive!... Under Jack Benson! I wanted to scream, go running out into the night! But I couldn't.. Everything erupted, I step up with a fierce piercing gaze, I wanted to state my case. “you don’t understand, you’re a poor parent and a useless husband.” Wesley remained silent. Gesturing wildly and crying, “You don’t care for either me or Charlie, only yourself. “What sort of man do you think you are?” Wesley still remains immensely calm. I say, “What do you think if feels like to grow up with a father who doesn’t care for his family.” I scream with frustration. I storm into the room and slammed the door shut.
