“ 1988, I lost my reputation and my dignity. I lost almost everything, and I almost lost my life.” Monica Lewinsky is a woman that was affected by public shaming. Public Shaming is a consequence that is served when a human makes a mistake. Often it is a crime that is legal and people still get persecuted. The three sources that support my claim is the scarlet letter, Monica Lewinsky, and Justine Sacco’s issue. These sources display negative effects of public shaming towards the people is unjust. Public shaming causes cruel punishments, depression and it should be left in the past.…

therefore hearing this celebrity exposing her “new” gender sexuality resulted as a fabricated lie, a simple way to grab even more attention from viewers. However with more research I learned that it is in fact an existing concept but not well known. Miley Cyrus way manner to portray herself on media is perceived as innovative and “cooly” admirable for some people, yet it looks very fraudulent and just a show in my opinion. The way she expose her nude body like a normal issue bothers me for the fact that our body is sacred to ourselves and we have to love and respect ourselves before anything else, but she just uses it to publicity and the creation for many more scandals that can give her more attention and relevance around the world. Celebrities like Miley Cyrus have the idea of women revolution as a frequen easy way to gain more fans by taking their body exposure to another level where nothing is in the imagination…

    Tale of 2 divorces

"A Tale of Two Divorces" by Anne Roiphe was alarming. I felt great sorrow for her mother, as she retold the failure of her parents marraige. It bothered me that there was a point in which her mother was willing to leave her father because of his abusiveness, yet then submitted herself to pardon him, and not leave him. Roiphe did the same when she was on ithe verge of divorce; she tried to find excuses for her husband's immoral actions. She explains, "my husband had other women and I thought it was an artist's privelege[...]" (208). Or when she states that her husband"went on binges and used up all our money. I thought it was poetic[...] I was always apologizing" (208). Perhaps there was a point in which these women allowed themselves to be naive and let the men in their lives to endulge in the stereotype of male superiority, where he is a womanizer, drinks excessively, critisizes his wife, and expects his house to be in perfect condition. I do, however, admire Roiphe for her strength in leaving that unhealthy relationship while she still could. This is why she refers to divorce as "an emergency escape hatch" (212). If a person is in a relationship that is truly distructive, then it is best for that person to distance themselves from that relationship, in order to save themselves from further misery and insecurity.…

Over the past decade, Britney Spears has gone downhill little by little from becoming famous after being on Disney channel. While doing a case study on Britney Spears, I learned the music industry stole away her innocence and molded it into an attempt to transition from a pop princess to a sexy adult performer that would sweep millions. Her overexposure and paparazzi frenzy causes her to go insane because she has no privacy. Additionally, there is proof that Britney has had many psychotic breakdowns. Maybe the reason for her actions in the past has to do with the fact her children being taken away from her custody and her career going slowly down the drain. Also, she has been in a constant battle with drugs, alcohol, her ex-husband Kevin Federline, and the paparazzi. Secondly, some of the people she hangs with are bad influences from the get-go including famous Paris Hilton. Furthermore, in November 2006 after being friends with Paris, Britney was caught three times wearing no underwear on and exposing herself to the paparazzi (Cowboy). Afterwards, Britney made even poorer choices as her life began to fall to pieces even further which made her a bundle of fans. For example, after reading an article about Britney going downhill, a blogger wrote, “wow I used to actually like you until you became a whore and a crack head and then when you have your first chance you get your kids back you don’t even show up for your court hearings you’re a horrible mother” (Neyna). Many bloggers that used to be fans of Britney agree to this blog.…

Sexual-objectification can occur in interpersonal or social encounters, and media exposure (McKay, 2013). Interpersonal and social encounters lead to women being objectified through sexual comments, harassment, whistles or shouts, and gazing from male beings (McKay, 2013). Research suggests that many women desire breast augmentation due to pressures from their romantic partners and peers (Howerton et al., 2011) Due to the social expectations, many women feel inadequate and succumb to breast augmentation or other types of plastic surgery (Howerton et al., 2011). Television shows and other forms of media educate viewers that plastic surgery is empowering and is a feminist practice, they also portray the female body as an object that needs work, and once fixed, it will solve all of their problems (Marwick, 2010). As a result of mass media and its influences, the fuller the breasts the sexier and more feminine individuals feel (Howerton et al., 2011). The interplay of these factors has resulted in many women’s interests in breast augmentation, demonstrating its relative value in female perception by society (Rohrich et al., 2007). A negative emotional consequence that results from sexual objectification is that women feel ashamed of their bodies when they perceive them as falling short of feminine beauty ideals, and encourages women to focus on their physical appearance treating themselves as objects to be looked at and evaluated (Calogero, Pina, Park, & Rahemtulla,…

A few weeks after my awful notion of her, I finally was able to meet the real Jolie when my math teacher, Mrs. Burns, made us project partners. Thanks to the project, we managed to exchange phone numbers and conversed and I was allowed to talk know her better.
