In 2007, New York Times writer, Penelope Green examined the life of Colin Beaven and his family. Mr. Beaven was attempting to live impact free for one year. The choices made by Wes 2 impacted his life. Even though Wes didn’t have the best life he tried to make the best of it. He knew who is main supporters were and took their thoughts into consideration. Wes didn’t want to stay in the military school his mom sent him to, but with time he found out that it is what’s best for him and stuck it out. A person that affected me in the story was the chef from Caesars Palace because he gave him the opportunity to provide for his family, change his life around, and prove that he is talented and can be successful. “Mr.Henderson,” he said. “Did you kill anyone?” “No, sir.” “All right.” He said. “I want you to cook me dinner on Friday. Write up a menu.” This quote stuck out to me mostly because he gave him the chance and…
I interviewed my brother for this project. My brother is the Region 5 Coordinator for the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and he is being inducted into the position as National Commander for the Sons of the American Legion. I chose to interview him for several reasons including his success over the years. I have seen him work his way up the corporate ladder, I know about his work ethics, and I have seen the determination that it takes to do what he needs to do in order to continue to be successful. I have learned a considerable amount of things from him throughout the years and I have found him to be strong leader and motivator. At one time he started a volunteer disaster recovery team that assisted local public officials including police, fire, and ambulance personnel in many man-made and natural disasters. He started the team with only three members and took it to over 300 members who were very closely networked with various fire and police departments throughout three counties in central Florida, the team had various training sessions through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, CERT, National Weather Service, and the American Red Cross. He has proven himself to be an effective leader on many occasions over the years.…
The subject of my research paper is how Jesse Owens, an athletic runner yet also an inspirational person, changed history in positive ways. I am approaching this topic from the standpoint that Jesse Owens broke all racial barriers in sports. I will focus on how his story changed history in positive ways. I hope to find information on to support my thesis that Jesse Owens was a role model in society and was a part of an inspirational time in history.…
Sometime in our future, when people from this generation are at their 60s', people will wonder if they had made a change in the world to be better. Some will ask what could've they done to make a mark in history. While others could only wish to be someone they are not. And only a few will not have that question of emptiness. People make their own contributions in their own ways. Two characters that demonstrate these are Jason M. Clark of Illinois and Amy G. Santiago of California. Both have different professions but share the same purpose.…
Many people have had one person who has inspired them. They have changed their life very much the first day that they met. The person who has changed my life in the past couple years was my softball coach. She had us all work as hard as we could everyday. If we didn’t put in our best effort for a drill, she would have us start over and do it again. Coach Tash was motivated, committed, and helpful to everyone on the team.…
Vince Lombardi, head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960’s, stated, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence”. This holds true for many aspects of life, whether it be writing an essay for an English class, maintaining an image in society, or progressing a career, quality of life is a constant struggle. As humans, we are constantly evolving and making changes, most of them to supplement society. The need to be strive for greatness is thrumming vibrantly, deep inside the chest. There are some that achieve more than others, labelling themselves as leaders, more prominent members of society, individuals of inspiration for others to look up to. Two certain people who have demonstrated excellence by going above and beyond medial, mediocre measures, showcasing greatness throughout everyday situations, and are well-deserving of a blue ribbon, are Keaton Shumard and Aaron Jones.…

Each of the characters in their tough situations mentioned had used another person as motivation to help reach their own personal goal. Even though each of them were aware of their end results, by thinking about leaving behind an amazing example, the unfortunate conclusion seemed slightly less relevant and daunting in their eyes. Although the resolution of their situations was unrewarding considering the original goal, they were rewarded something much more important to them; a legacy that others can look back on and learn…
To reach this ladder of success, I‘ve developed my own methods of survival through peace, love, and positivity. Unlike that homeless man who survives on his own, I persevere through helping others who lost their hope or are simply driven by the fear of working hard. On my free time, I motivate younger classmen with this message with the intention of leading them down a pathway unlike those who make up our despairing community. My change of perspective opened up many doors which allowed me to become a role model and a captain of my cross country team. Although my community has affected my academics and home situations profoundly, I now have the strive on bettering my future and experience on how it feels to fail but not give…
My name is Kaleigh Gonzales I’m a 15 year old sophomore and I’m running for the 2014-2015 officer position of reporter for Armwood High Schools FFA Chapter. I feel I should be selected for this position because not only am I a people person but I am also extremely organized. I think this would make me be able to effectively and efficiently get the Armwood FFA’s chapter name known to the public. I would also try to do this by doing any and all public service projects we can get our hands on, then publishing our successes. I believe that to make a difference you have to be known and respected by the community around you. In the past three years I have served as Vice President for Burnett Middle School for two terms and Treasurer for Armwood high school for one term. In this time I’ve competed many events including forestry, land judging, vet assisting, OCC, creed speaking, and extemporaneous public speaking. By doing this I’ve gained lots of experience and love in our great organization. I believe to be this year’s reporter I have to not only work on our clubs public media aspects but also work hard in competitions to win and better our chapters’ reputation. If I were to describe the technique in which I lead I would have to say that I plan , I tell others my plan , and then I depend on my team to help me. They tell me where they specialize in and what they want to do for me, and we work form there. I try to let people do what makes them happy while still helping me. I can make a personal promise that I will always work my hardest to make FFA my top priority, a position like this requires my full attention. My other activity I engage in is that I am a First sergeant of alpha company in JROTC, this means I am the second in command of one of three company’s in our schools only JROTC battalion. I promise that my responsibilities there will not interfere with my responsibilities regarding FFA. Some activities I want to do this year are competitions like OCC and…
