Acts 3:1-7 (NLT)
1Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o'clock prayer service. 2As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one
Hedrick, Charles W. “Paul’s Conversion/Call: A Comparative Analysis of the Three Reports in Acts.” Journal of Biblical Literature 100, no. 3 (S 1981): 415–432. C. Hedrick talks about the miracle of Paul’s conversion. He compares and contrasts the three accounts and determines the story of Paul as Luke saw it. The only way to truly understand, he says, is to compare all three accounts side by side.…

I really enjoyed your writing on the use of debt and principles in light of the Biblical Worldview. The points your raised showed your knowledge of both very well. I particularly liked your point that while borrowing is frowned upon in the Bible, investing and working your money is encouraged. While there is much guidance in the Bible on management and usage of money, it can be confusing and seemingly contradictory. This is also reflective in business. Corporations do not choose to borrow for growth purposes lightly. There is much thought and analysis on the future benefits and risks to borrow before any loan papers are signed.…
Write a response to these brilliant authors in 40 to 60 words? Surely you jest. We will begin with Ms. Carolyn M. Rodgers’ “Jesus was Crucified”. Read it, and you will know who is narrating. The theme is inequality with an emphasis on the individual elements that led to, what I will refer to as, “the African-American state of mind”.…

The book of Acts is of a narrative genre. The main purpose of Acts is to provide an account on the beginning and expansion of the early church. The book begins with a summary of Jesus’ life before and after He was crucified. Peter addresses the crowd, and they devote themselves to the teaching of the apostles. Peter heals a crippled beggar and then speaks to the crowd about God. While Peter speaks, he and John were arrested for the mere crime of disturbance. They were given a warning not to keep teaching and were released. Together they all pray for courage to continue to preach about Jesus. The apostles heal many people but continue to be persecuted. The apostles choose seven men to help mediate between the Jews. One man by the name of Stephen was arrested and stoned to death while praying. The church begins to disperse. King Herod arrested Peter but Peter was able to escape. The book ends with Paul preaching in Rome while being held by guards.…
The salvation to Christianity of Saul of Tarsus, also known as Paul the apostle, is one of the most miraculous conversions in the Bible. Saul of Tarsus fought to destroy the early church of Christ through murderous and violent acts aimed specifically at the converts of Christ. The conversion of Paul is well documented and is mentioned in Luke 9:1-19, 22:1-21 and 26:1-23. Paul’s life was changed forever at the moment of salvation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reads, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” Paul’s conversion is thought to be the most important human calling in the Bible. Many Biblical scholars believe he is the most influential apostle in history. He…
According to Viramontes, the unique challenges by Latina females is caused greatly by their ethnic background. Often women are oppressed by society, but when the issue is of color these challenges are harder to avoid. This does not only occur in this novel, but exists today in the real world. Many Latina females are often discriminated and harassed by societal influences, which makes them feel forced into specific roles. As seen in Under the Feet of Jesus, Estrella is a victim of these ongoing challenges, for being part of a low socioeconomic status, lack of education, and not being a legal U.S. citizen.…
Nearly four thousand years passed since the Hebrew people began the practice of offering a blood sacrifice to atone for sin. Throughout the Old Testament, sacrifices were made to God for a covering of sin. God accepted these sacrifices for a season, but knew that a perfect sacrifice was the only avenue to the eradication of sin. And, in His perfect timing, God demonstrated for the world the personage of perfection. God, the Creator, gifted His creation with His Son. “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”1 Jesus was and is the perfect sacrifice for sin.…
There are many basic accounting concepts that are either directly or indirectly referenced in the Bible such as financial accounting, internal control, and management accounting, as discussed in the article “Accounting in the Bible” by Robert L. Hagerman. According to our textbook Fundamental Accounting Principles, accounting is an information and measurement system that identifies, records, and communicates relevant, reliable, and comparable information about an organization’s business activities.” (pg.4) One of the key elements of accounting is balancing. Deuteronomy 25: 13-16 says, “Do not have two differing weights in your bag- one heavy, one light. Do not have two differing measures in your house- one large, one small. You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land of the Lord your God is giving you. For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly.” The Old Testament of the Bible is full of laws, rules, and guidelines that deal with accounting and business ethics, and can be used as a starting point for accounting concepts that are used today. Maintaining honest weights and measurements is a specific precept to the Bible. Leviticus states, “Just scales, just weights, just dry measures, and just liquid measures you shall have.” (19:35-36) Honest weights and measures would also seem to include keeping honest accounting records. All types of deception and misrepresentation are inappropriate. Accountants have a moral obligation to avoid deceptive acts and practices and ensure that clients maintain a high level of ethical behavior. “Accounting ensures that debtors and creditors agree on the amount due and that partners and other classes of owners know their share of the earnings.” (Hagerman ) ”Whatever stores you issue do it by number and weight, spending and taking put everything in writing.” (Eccl. 14:7) Keeping records and making a budget are also key elements of…

Throughout the Bible, Jesus makes it clear that we are to be Christ-like and our attitudes should be the same as his. Jesus freely put his rights aside, in order to become a human, to serve the needs of mankind. Which made him submissive to death. However, while he was on the cross, Jesus Christ’s humility is exemplified because he bore an agonizing death that consisted of humiliation, in order to provide our requirements.…
