The Civil Right Movement was a tough struggling period for African Americans, a tough period African Americans endeavored hard to acquire basic human rights. But while African Americans were striving for their human rights, some white people were indifferent and don’t understand the African Americans’ feeling, even Clergymen from Churches came out to condemn African Americans’ movements. Martin Luther King Jr, an African American Civil Right leader, wrote a letter back to Clergymen from Churches, in the essay he expressed feeling and perspectives on the African Americans’ side, MLK declares. “We have waited more than 340 years for our Constitutional and God Given Rights” (6). This statement from MLK expressed the helpless and miserable feeling from the African Americans, which was the motivation drove African Americans for the Civil Right Movement.
