Jim Bowie the heroic man who fought in the battle of Concepcion and the Alamo.He died at the battle of the Alamo.The Bowie Knife and Bowie State University were named after him. Jim Bowie started his life when he was born in Logan County,Kentucky in April,1796. Through his life he had lived in many different places. He was named after the scottish king, James VI, awarded his parents a house and a garden in Cowper to “Jerome Bowie”. He lived on a cotton plantation and sawing lumber some of his life. When he got a little bit older he would rope and ride wild mustangs for the entertainment to his friends own use. He was known for capturing wild bears, his older brother would brag about his “entirely original” method of capturing bears.He was the first child that had taught himself math and kept count of their money . He was most famous and popular for the huge knife known as the Bowie knife. When he gets older he moves to san antonio. He joins a catholic church shortly after he moves there.He then becomes a Mexican citizen. When he gets settled he marries a young women by the name Ursula Maria de Veramendi. Later on when they settle down they have two children, Marie Elve born on March 20, 1832 and James Veramendi born on July 18, 1833.
