You can only blame the past but there is a expiry date of blaming your parents and family or friends for all the failures and what happened to you. But as a gown adult and now a professional YOU are now responsible to change things for the better. Yes the saying said, “things happen for a reason and one door closed and another door will open for you and whatever is God’s will..” But it is also important to know to ask yourself, what are you going to do to handle the change, the new door that just opened for you and His will? How are you going to face the new opportunity? And how are you going to make sure you avoid heading to the old door

Tradition has it that a commencement speech typically contains life advice, vision of the future, words of wisdom, lesson of life, ideas to succeed. David Foster Wallace, however, has a unique way of giving his own commencement speech. Senator Al Franken gave a heartfelt resignation speech amid harassment allegation. He did very well in his speech as he used allusions, tone, and diction to give a well worded, thought-provoking speech touching upon the masked corruption within the political party divisions of the United States Senate involving sexual harassment In his speech, Franken uses tone and much pathos when talking about the allegation on how he responded. Franken states, “We were finally beginning to listen to women about the ways in which men’s action affect them. The moment was long overdue.”…

On June 16th at his very own Trump Tower in New York City, Donald Trump announced that he would be running for president. It was only thirty seconds into his speech when Trump committed his first fallacy. In an attempt to insult the intelligence of his fellow GOP candidates, he compared their incompetence toward air conditioners to their supposed inability to beat ISIS. “They didn’t know the air-conditioner didn’t work,” “How are they going to beat ISIS?” This is a bad example fallacy due to his use of an example that fails to prove the conclusion and has little connection to it. Despite the complete lack of relation between Trump’s example and his conclusion, he was still able to provoke the audience into feelings of contempt toward the other…

President Nixon begins his speech by declaring that America is finally in a state of peace. Nixon says that the wars are over and America can now focus on its internal issues, instead of the exterior war problems. This intro is effective, because the fixing of internal American issues is an issue very central to many Americans and for the people the Senators represent. Next, Nixon moves into describing the positive effects from his five years in office.…

Throughout her speech Kelley compares and contrast different states child labor laws. Kelley states, “In Alabama the law provides that a child… not work longer than 8 hours”. Here kelley creates a general idea of how long kids have to work. She does this to represent the hardships the children are facing. Then she continues and says, “In Georgia there is no restriction whatever!” Emphasizing the workload the children have Kelley sparks anger within the NAWSA. As she compares the workload of New Jersey to Alabama, “New Jersey took a long backwards step”. New Jersey repealed a law that required children to stop working earlier. This is very clear how they took a step backward because with this law repealed children must work more which is not…
