Jim’s father has had a huge impact on him up till his father died. His father taught him how to “Keep” the Benbow inn and how to make the rum . “Thats you, Bill. returned Black Dog, you’re in the right of it, Billy. I’ll have a glass of rum from this dear child here (Jim), as i’ve took such a liking to; and we’ll sit down, if you please, and talk square, like old shipmates.” (10 ch. 2) Also after listening to the mutineers, Jim chose to make the right decision and go with the right crew which taught him how to load and fire a gun.
Over the time Jim was on the ship, he learned lots and changed lots through knowledge, conflict, and people to guide him on his journey. Jim learned how to sail a ship, make rum, and learned knowledge crucial to his survival. Jim also changed because of the huge battle.
