“Summary and Evaluation of Arguments Made By Creon”
Character assumes that state laws are very valuable for the protection and survival of the country. He thinks that family and divine laws are not as important as the rules established by the king. The person who breaks these rules should be punished. Moreover, a disloyal person should not be treated in the same way as a loyal and enemy of the country should be left unburied for dogs, cats and eagles after the death.
He argues polyneices was a traitor to the country because he did not like his acts, but his brother Eteocles was loyal so they should not be treated in the same way. Creon believes that the enemy of state is still enemy even after the death so he should have no honour. He explained his evidence for supporting this assertion using facts. He mentioned the fact that this is only Antigone among the citizens who thinks family and divine law are more
