Character Analysis
There is always the one boy. The boy that is more trouble than he is worth. In John Steinbeck’s, The Red Pony, that boy is Jody Tiflin. Jody is the main protagonist in the novel. Jody is always finding himself in trouble, whether it be his fault or not. Jody’s father, Carl, is very strict and not at all lenient, which clashes with Jody’s adventurous and curious spirit constantly. While Jody tries very hard to please his father, his exuberant and excited nature cause him to irritate Carl at every turn. Jody’s adventurousness and endless reserves of energy get him are always getting him into trouble, but help in learn to become an adult.
