Paul Edgecomb:
Paul is the “Head Honcho” or lead warden on E-block. He is the one who leads the mission to heal Warden Moores wife with John Coffey. He is a very friendly, kind, and forgiving man. He is in charge of all the executions on E-Block. He is also blessed with a piece of John Coffey’s gift greatly extending his lifespan.
John Coffey:
John Coffey is one of the most famous inmates on E-Block. He was convicted of murdering and raping two girls but it is later revealed that it was not his doing. He is very kind and childish. He has healing abilities said to be the gift of God. He heals Mr. Jingles, Paul Edgecomb’s bladder infection, and Warden Moores wife. He in the end is executed because there isn’t enough evidence to prove his innocence

He is kind-hearted and innocent at heart. He befriends Mr. Jingles the mouse and makes him his companion. He also befriends all of the wardens and John Coffey. In the end Delacroix was brutally executed due to a purposeful mistake in the execution process by Percy Wetmore.
Percy Wetmore:
Percy Wetmore is seen as an antagonist type character. He has a short temper and is too selfish and prideful. Percy has an obsession with killing the mouse on E-Block later named Mr. Jingles. He grows a hatred toward Eduard Delacroix because Delacroix befriends the mouse Mr. Jingles. Because of this he sabotages Delacroix’s execution causing him to have a terribly painful death.
“Wild Bill” Wharton:
Wild Bill was one of the more disliked inmates due to his terrible behavior and insane demeanor. He just like Percy was seen as an antagonist type character. He constantly attacked and played tricks on the wardens and constantly put in solitary confinement. Wild Bill turned out to be the true murderer of the two girls that Coffey was convicted of killing. He was later shot to death by Percy
