John F. Kennedy is a well-known president and a remarkable historical figure. He had the courage to fight for our country in World War II. Not knowing whether or not he would return home he proved to everyone he was strong enough. He overcame the obstacle of being thrown into the water after his boat was hit by a Japanese destroyer. It took him and a fellow crew man four hours to swim to safety. To prove how courageous he was he received the Purple Heart and the Navy was praised for his heroism.
