On November 22, 1963 John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He was in a parade in Dallas, Texas riding in an open-top convertible with the first lady, Texas governor John Connally, and his wife. Kennedy passed the Texas School Book Depository at 12:30 p.m. when Lee Harvey Oswald shot him in the head and neck with a Carcano Rifle. The governor was also shot, in the chest. Kennedy was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 p.m. Not long after Kennedy was shot, Lee Harvey Oswald shot Patrolman J.D Tippit when he was questioning him near his home.
