John F Kennedy Jfk Assassination Informative Speech
Listening and learning from our elders is a thing of the past in the U.S., but it shouldn’t be anymore.

Our elders (or not yet elders) can teach us about our past, present, and what not to do in the future.

Theresa Geise, a resident of Kenhorst and a mother of two children, has many things to tell and I was lucky enough to be at the other end of her storytelling.

I know Theresa as simply ‘grandma’. I interviewed her about the JFK assassination, a tragic moment in american history where President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in his own limousine in Dallas, Texas, November 22, 1963. The JFK assassination had an effect similar to the effect 9/11 had in 2001.
With such an intense moment ingrained in Theresa's mind, there is no doubt that she has a great tale about witnessing history when it was reality.
Theresa found herself at her high school when it happened, a catholic school called St. Agnes, located in Towanda, PA. She was in the last graduating class at St. Agnes, a tiny class of 12 comprised of 6 boys and 6 girls.
Theresa remembered the events that followed the assassination very well and told me her school’s reaction and her’s as well. “We were all corralled to the cafeteria ….We were

“The scariest moment I’ve experienced before the JFK assassination was a when I angered Sister Julie. I was in math class when I decided to throw a paper airplane at Sister Julie. Frowning at my horrible act of mischief, she looked like she was going to blow steam out of her ears. I was really scared because my parents got really mad whenever I got into any kind of trouble. Luckily though, Sister Julie knew my parents would be too harsh on me, and she told me that she would let me go until I did anything mischievous again.” From the wild stories of my stepfather, I know that Theresa was a little more lax when it came to raising her own

On November 22, 1963, president John F. Kennedy was in Dallas, Texas for a speech at the Dealey Plaza. On his way there, in an open convertible, instead of going down Dallas’ Main St., which they planned to, they decided to go down Elm St. where there were more buildings and a better crowd view. On going down Elm St. now, there were three shots. Two of the shots hit the president, one in the neck and one in the head, and the third shot hit the governor. Ninety seconds after the shots, officers rushed into the Texas School Book Depository to find a man named Lee Harvey Oswald eating his lunch very calmly on the second floor and a sniper rifle on the sixth floor. Lee Harvey Oswald worked at the school book depository and was arrested and put…

The JFK assassination was one of the most life changing moments in human history at the time. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was elected the president of the United States in 1963 (35 president). The new president called on his fellow Americans to work together in the pursuit of eliminating poverty and win the ongoing Cold War against communism around the world. There were two legislations that JFK proposed during his presidency and they were the biggest priorities at the time: income tax cuts and a civil rights bill. Kennedy wanted to make all genders, ethnicities, and races equal in society. In 1963 people were fighting over what restaurant to go into and even what water fountains to drink out of. Kennedy was slow to commit himself to the civil rights cause, but was eventually forced into action because of riots at the University of Mississippi that left two dead and many others injured. On November 22, 1963, the president and his wife landed in Dallas to continue his around the world speaking engagements. Shortly after 12:30 p.m. shots rang out from what was recorded as a hotel room on the street. Kennedy was struck twice, once in the neck…

Three events that arguably had the most profound effects on warfare was the advent of three different “ages”: the Napoleonic age, industrial age, and nuclear age. Napoleonic Age. In the eighteenth century, European warfare was comprised of long-service regulars, officers from the nobility lacking military training, and a professional infantry recruited from the dregs of society requiring strict discipline. Warfare was slow because armies marched around towns (rather than through them) and could only march during the daytime, given that infantry may try to desert under the cover of darkness. Armies were very expensive, so warfare consisted of ongoing maneuvering to try to cut off the other army’s supply line.…

It was a beautiful morning in Texas, the skies were blue, and there no clouds in sight. Parents and children were gathered along side the road to see the thrilling sight that was about to pass right before their eyes. Nobody at the parade that day could have been happier, as they watched their nation’s leader slowly drive past them in a large motorcade. My wife had just turned around to tell the president how much Texas loved him, when a shot rang out that changed our nation forever.…

In the Ojibway tribes, the elders are treated like kings. They are the oldest, therefor the wisest. The elders hold all the stories to be shared, and know all the tricks of life. The elders led the way when the Ojibway people set out on a new journey, and whatever the elders in the tribe dais was taken very seriously. I feel like today’s culture is the opposite. We do not listen to what our elders say as much. When the younger generations in the tribe had a problem that they needed solved, they went to their elders. There was always a story or lesson to help get through the everyday trials of life. Now when an elder tries to help or give us life advice, we ignore because we do not want to believe that they know where we are coming from. We do not realize that they have gone through exactly what we are experiencing. Looking back, I sincerely wish that I would have listened to the stories of my grandparents more, because they are gone now and along with them went the stories I was too foolish not to listen…
