Regarding Hinchey's chapter 3, after reading the statement of "What is best for kids?", my mind went rolling to experiences in my school. "Whose kids exactly are we talking about?" was the other question that could be answered differently in each school house. I had a general idea of the effects of poverty on the education of children from impoverished backgrounds, but it is still interesting to read such information as a reminder of the wrong assumptions we as teachers could have, such as lacking computers with Internet access or how the parents cannot help with their child's homework because of their own low literacy levels.
The Macedo's book provided with good information regarding
