In the article “The Pros And Cons of Propaganda” (2014) the author argues that propaganda works, but only for a certain period of time. He supposes his idea by giving modern day examples from Russia with quantitative data. The author wants to acknowledge the effectiveness of propaganda, but also explain the flaws of propaganda, in order to show people propaganda is not all positive. He supports his claim by providing the example of North Korea’s film which went wrong when the film was used to show the strict control of the government rather than the happy life of North Korea. Todd and McConnell hope to shift the idea that propaganda is only positive and effective, in order to open the eyes of society. The author hopes to educate readers in order to make them more aware of the huge role propaganda played in the success of the Nazis. The author uses a persuasive tone to capture a reader of any background.
