John In A Thousand Years

The phrase “χίλια ἔτη (a thousand years)” shoud be taken as referring to a definite time period. The phrase “a thousand years” is repeated six times in Revelation 20:2-7 (once in each verse) which is done to stress the importance of this phrase. John refers to an indefinite period of time (a little time”) in Revelation 20:3 which shows that he knew the Greek word for an indefinite time period and the word for a definite time period. Then it would seem that John is not using the phrase “a thousand years” to refer to an indefinite period of time since this phrase is repeated for emphasis in the context.
