According to the DSM-5, the criteria for Schitzophrenia 295.90 is “the presence of two or more of the following, each present for a 1-month period. At least one of these must be Delusions, Hallucinations, Disorganized speech” (MENTAL HEAlth) The other symptoms that are included are, “grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms” (MENTAL ). The DSM further states that there is a disturbance or an impairment in the level of functioning in one or more areas such as social or occupational, these changes last at least 6 months. The disturbances must not linked to any other medical condition, or imapriements from drugs or other substances. (MENTAL).
