John Press Biography
My great-grandfather, John Press, was born on February 20, 1920. He lived in Pennsylvania and worked as a shipper. He would ship items by land, sea, or air. He then later married his wife, Elizabeth. She worked as a secretary where they would help makes bombs for the war. John and Elizabeth Press had two girls that they put in Catholic school. Throughout their life, they were very healthy individuals. When they got older from age, John Press, had a heart attack at home and was sent to the hospital. He was in the hospital for ten days while he was in a coma. He later passed away on February 28, 1998. About thirteen years later, Elizabeth Press, passed away on January 18, 2011. She started smoking cigarettes when her husband passed and one day went out to smoke and fell on ice. …show more content…

While in the hospital she got sicker and passed away. My mother's other grandparents are Charles Luis Lang and Frances Lang. Charles Lang was born on December 14, 1918. He worked in Philly as a prison guard. His wife, Frances, was born on July 10, 1921. She worked at Philco, a company where they made supplies. For example, can openers, television, and radios. They had three children, two boys, and one girl. On June 25, 2001, Frances passed away from a heart attack. One year later on August 20, 2002, Charles Lang passed away in the hospital from organ failure. Each of my great-grandparents lived a healthy life and did not have any issues until they grew older. For my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Press, smoking contributed to her death. If she wasn't a smoker, maybe she would have grown

    My granny had her first child at eleven years old and twenty more followed behind, four of them were twins. She raised them by herself without the help of a husband. After all her kids were grown and had moved out the house and had kids of their own she took me in and raised me. We didn’t have much but, we made do with the little we did have. I stayed with the things I needed and never went without food, shelter or clothes. We stayed outside the city limits, so all the people who stayed out there had to burn their trash because the trash man did not come to the country. This one day in particular my granny was burning trash and there was a hair spray can inside the bag. She didn’t know that it was in there and she threw the trash in the fire. As she watched the fire burn the can exploded and caught her on fire. A person driving by seen her and came to her aid. She was rushed to the hospital with third and fourth degree burns over sixty percent of her body. She went through many weeks of physical therapy the doctors told her that she was going to lose her hand motion do to the extent of the burns on her hand and, that she would not be able to move her legs as good as she did before. But my granny worked hard to get her movement back in her hands and legs, and she was up moving around like her old self in no time.…
