John Rockefeller was a business magnate and philanthropist, who was born on July 8th, 1839 in Richford, NY. He was the founder of Standard Oil, which he founded in 1870, becoming one of the richest men on earth. John was born in a humble family which is why his quote “If your only goal is to become rich, you will never achieve it” signifies it. He started if as a poor young boy and became the richest man in the world, that takes a lot of sacrifice and work.
Early Life
John Rockefeller was born in a humble family with 7 siblings, he would earn money to help his family by raising turkeys, doing jobs for neighbors and selling candy, so from a young age he knew what hard work was. His family then moved to Ohio where he went to Owego Free Academy for high school. After Graduating high school he attended Chancellor University studying bookkeeping. He later married Laura Celestia
After he retired in 1897 he was inspired to be a Philanthropy by Andrew Carnegie. He donated more than half a billion dollars to educational, religious and scientific causes. Gave money to found the University of Chicago. Donated money to fund the institute for medical research now known as Rockefeller University. “ I believe that it is a religious duty to get all the money you can, fairly and honestly; to keep all you can, and to give away all you can”

John D Rockefeller is considered to be one of the men that build America. His net worth is $360 Billion in today’s money, he was one of the richest men in the world. He is known to be one of the men the founded the Standard Oil Company, he was a business magnate and a major philanthropy donating a lot of money more than half a billion. Sadly he died on March 23, 1937, at age 97. “ Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the Great,” Rockefeller once said, so we should too, to be
