By the time he was 14, he was a “certified gangsta” with a strong reputation. While on the phone with Wes, Tony asks about school; Wes attends an elementary school nicknamed “Chicken Pen,” where 99% of the students are black and 70% receive free lunches. Tony tells his little brother to “take this shit seriously,” urging Wes not to follow in his own footsteps. Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…
Airing in December of 1989, the Simpsons are starting their 25th season as of this year. This longevity has been thanks to the five main characters; Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson. Representing the all-American household; each of these characters plays an important part in not just Springfield, but society all around. But the most humanistic and “normal” person living in Springfield is no other than Lisa Marie Simpson. Lisa is a tough nut to crack, but just like any other young girls out there, she has fallen in and out of love, faced defeat and tasted victory. She is an overachiever, a feminist, an activist, the “voice of reason” in a town full of “Homer’s,” and a youth with more common sense than most of the adults.…
