My favorite actor is Johnny Depp. Personally, I haven’t watched too many of his movies but I’ve watched enough to know what an astonishing actor he is. From playing a man with scissors instead of hands, to being a rowdy pirate, to owning a chocolate factory, I believe he’s one of the greatest actors in filmmaking history.
Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky, on June 9th, 1963 but was raised in Florida. In his early life, Depp was considered a “rebel” and into narcotics and vandalism. When he was only 15 years old, he dropped out of high school to pursue a career as a rock musician. He got into acting after visiting his now former wife, who introduced him to Nicholas Cage. The first movie he ever acted in was “A Nightmare on Elm Street” in 1984, but he became a star after he starred in a hit TV show, “21 Jump Street”, in 1987.
He did many teen movies, up until 1990, when he played the main role in Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands”. After that movie, he became known as a serious, dark actor with shocking roles. He starred in more Tim Burton movies and other rather “dark” and “mysterious” movies. Then in 2003, he starred in a blockbuster, “Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of The Black Pearl” as a very unique character- A witty, conniving pirate, Capt. Jack Sparrow. Although “Edward Scissorhands” increased Depp’s popularity, it was the “Pirates of the Carribean” that made him extremely famous.
Although Depp is a marvelous actor, he often plays the role of eccentric outcasts with oddities that society doesn’t understand. I personally think that’s what makes him such an interesting actor and person, but some people would beg to differ. Not only are his characters unique, but he, as an individual, has many trademarks he’s known by, such as his deep, whispering voice. He also has a very different sense of style; he always wears outlandish clothes and he has numerous tattoos.
Interesting facts about Depp:
He never watches his own movies
He visits sick children in character
He wants to have his ashes poured into a cask of whiskey, and everyone at his funeral to take a sip
He holds the record for the highest paycheck for a single movie ($53 million)
He’s been married to 4 actresses, including Winona Ryder & Kate Moss
He has an obsession with Jack the Ripper
He adopted the horse in a featured film, “Sleepy Hollow”, when he found out it was going to be put to sleep after filming
He’s god father to Helena Bonham-Carter and Tim Burton’s son
He’s a Barbie doll collector
He’s scared of clowns, spiders, and ghosts

My favorite movie character is Dr. Frank-N-Furter from the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Frank is something of a mad scientist, bent on creating the perfect life form to serve as his sexual plaything. He seems to be the leader of the Transylvanians on Earth. Frank is mainly concerned with himself and lacks the ability to see the consequences of his behavior. Though he did bring out the sexual creatures in a young, repressed couple, he did this with his own amusement in mind. He commits murder and cannibalism without a second thought, as well as locking Eddie in a deep-freezer. (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0010150/bio)…

Matt Dillion for example, really sold his performance as racist cop who abuses his authority. Dillon does a good job in showing how his character has a self-realization when he is pulling Thadie Newton’s character out of the burning car. She refuses his help because earlier in the movie he sexual harassed her, but Dillon’s character eventually gets her to put that aside and get her out of the fire. Dillion does an excellent job of showing how his character changed in that scene on how he should not abuse his authority on people. Another actor who did a good job was Ryan Phillippe. He played a cop who always tried to do the right thing but ends up killing a man who he thought had a gun but did not. Phillippe did a good job of showing how is character did the wrong thing when he shoots Larenz Tate’s character Peter. These two scenes show how both actors Matt Dillon and Ryan Phillippe sold their performances as a racist cop and a cop who wants to do the right…

The career of Tim Burton has spanned over the last 34 years and still continues today. He has developed a fair amount of films that fall under a range of genres that have been perceived well by his audience. However, all his work seems to contain common themes and aspects, that are clearly of interest to him. Films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet street (2007) have been used to explore special concerns about outcasts and the power of your true identity. Burton has used aspects that are recognisable by the audience, for example, colour palette and characterisation to consistently explore these thematic concerns throughout the films.…

Behavior speaks louder than appearance in most cases. The skipper’s behavior was unmerciful. He gave no mercy to the loser’s of fights and immediately made them walk the plank. In Chaucer’s words, he ignored the nicer rules of conscience. In spite of this, the skipper is very smart and a great navigator, which gives the reader the sense that he is also a leader. If I were to ask you to think of a name that best defines the role of funniest and most ridiculous person in Hollywood, I would bet that several of you would come up with the name Will Ferrell. This shouldn't come as a surprise to any of you as Ferrell has filled hilarious roles in recent years such as Buddy the elf, Ricky Bobby the racecar driver, Ron Burgandy the anchorman, Chaz Michael Michaels the figure skater, and many others. Ferrell has become a modern comical titan as he blew away Saturday Night Live with some of the best ratings in history and has developed into one of Hollywood's funniest and highest paid comical actors. With the way that he can pull off dumb humor and make people fall out of their chairs laughing time and time again, it seems that Ferrell was destined to be a comic from the start, but it wasn't always that way. Although he is now regarded as one of the funniest and highest paid comical actors in Hollywood, Ferrell's comic acting career probably spawned from a childhood hunger that for a long time, even Ferrell himself was unaware of.…
