Johnny Football This time of year is one of the best times if you are a football fan. The Super Bowl has just ended and now teams are gearing up for the upcoming NFL Draft on Thursday May 8th which will conclude on May 10th. This is a great time of year for a football fan because you get to see the new young talent; and how that talent can either improve or be detrimental to your favorite team. Without a doubt the most highly publicized player over the past two seasons was Johnny Manziel; a redshirt sophomore out of Texas A&M University. In 2012 Johnny Manziel took the college scene by storm with his outstanding play. The dual-threat quarterback led the Aggies to an impressive 11-2 record capping off the season with a beatdown of Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Johnny Manziel was given the nickname “Johnny Football” and it became instantly popular around the world of sports. The most amazing part about this past season he was the first freshman in NCAA history to win the Davy O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback) and The Heisman Trophy (most coveted award in college football) in the same season.
Coming off of an 11-2 season and a Heisman trophy under his belt, the expectations for Johnny Football were as lofty as ever. The 2013 season began for the Manziel and Aggies ranked 6th in the polls. Although the Aggies as a team didn’t achieve the goals they were hoping for, Manziel had an even better season (statistically) than his Heisman season just one year ago. With Manziel showing his passion on the field, his hard work off the field, and his persona and energy are just some reasons are why Johhny Manziel should be the number one draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Every superstar has their critics, and Manziel has plenty of those. Many people feel that Johnny Manziel shouldn’t be the first pick in the upcoming draft. They feel that Manziel is not worthy of a number one overall pick for a multitude of reasons, one of

The saying goes offense wins games, but defense wins championships. Mark Jackson played in 3 Super Bowls and played with John Elway, one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game and was quoted “It 's been said that offense can get you to the Super Bowl but DEFENSE wins Super Bowls and I 'd have to agree. With that said, great offenses are always run by great QB 's; not great wideouts, not great running backs, not great linemen. There are about 60 plays in a game and about 12-15 that have a significant effect on the outcome. John was able to make plays after the ball was snapped and the original play had failed. He was irreplaceable. ” To say that one man on a team of 53 men is irreplaceable shows the value of this one position. John Elway to Marks’ 3 Super Bowl playing teams was irreplaceable, as is Peyton Manning to the Colts, because this time last year the same 0-9 Colts were 6-3, and 9-0 in 2009 (NFL). As for the Lions their 6-2 record this year is following a 2-6 record in 2010 when Stafford only played in 3 games all year, and 0-16 the year prior to drafting Stafford, this clearly shows how important an elite quarterback is for a…

Newton was initially a member of the Florida Gators before transferring to Blinn College, where his team won a national junior college football championship. Newton was then recruited by head coach Gene Chizik of Auburn University and transferred once more. He became just the third player in major college football history to both rush and pass for 20 or more touchdowns in a single season. His performance earned him the Heisman Trophy as the most outstanding college football player, and he led Auburn to their second national championship in school history, despite controversy concerning his eligibility. In 2005 the world had been introduced to one of the best collegiate running backs to ever go through the University of Southern California. His name is Reggie Bush and he achieved one of the best personal awards any collegiate football player could want and that would be the Heisman award. Reggie bush played running back for USC in 2005, he was 6 foot tall and weighed 200 pounds, and he played tailback as a sophomore in college and played in 13 games. He was named “Pigskin club of Washington D.C offensive player of the year.” He was also named the2004 PAC-10 offensive player of the year, “Then He was named the 2005 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year (just the fifth player ever so honored and the first non-quarterback to do it in 20 years) and also made the All-Pac-10 first team as a tailback (the squad's only unanimous pick) and second team as a punt returner.” Nor do I need to mention that he won the 2005 Heisman trophy award by a landslide. Bush received 2,541 points and beat Young by a staggering 93 points. Everybody knows that bush deserves the Heisman trophy whether they want to admit to it or not Bush was the best.…
