I know for a fact that almost everyone has stepped into a gym once in their lives. I have met countless people who have said that they have been there, done that, and got the t-shirt; but what every single one of them has in common is some kind of excuse as to why they have stopped going in the first place - myself included. Anyone can enter a gym feeling bad about themselves and how they look, however, that moment they finished their workout, they are already feeling better about themselves. From my research, I conclude that the gym provides any active member of society - or potential activist - a way of increasing their flexibility, mobility, strength, endurance, overall health.…

These are simple exercises that are performed at a low or moderate intensity and at longer period of time. When performing aerobic exercises, you activate the slow twitch muscles in your body. Lauren Bateman states, “Aerobic exercise means that you need to get continuous and large amounts of oxygen in order to generate energy” (Bateman, 2006-2011), so aerobic training produces energy through glycolysis by using oxygen to break down glucose as part of its metabolic process. Aerobic training should be for individuals whose goals are to lose weight and get slimmer, burn fat and tone their body, improve the circulation of blood and transportation of oxygen in the body, or strengthening and the muscles involved in respiration which is increasing their stamina.…

An exercise routine has been found to reduce personal stress, anxiety, and increase self-esteem. (Brannon & Feist, 2010. Ch.15). “We have seen that people who exercise regularly decrease their risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes; improve their cholesterol ratio; have lower levels of depression; decrease anxiety level; and have fewer stress-related illnesses. Aerobic training is exercise that is for a longer duration, where you get your heart rate up moderately, but you keep it there for a relatively long period of time (such as when you jog and run during an orienteering course), and stay there at a steady pace while you perform your activity. (Bateman.L 2007) Aerobic exercise is beneficial to your body because it provides overall toning and strengthens your cardiovascular system. This can lower blood pressure and improve circulation. It can also make your heart stronger and larger, which increases the heart’s stroke volume and lowers your resting heart rate. This exercise also increases your red blood cell count, which means that oxygen is transported much more efficiently throughout your body and you also reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.…
