Jones Dawson Monologue
Scene 1
The stage lights come on and the sound birds, chatting school children, and some school traffic can be heard. Enter from stage right slowly making his way to center stage looking around in amazement Jones Dawson looking equally confused and amazed. He holds his backpack straps close as if they could keep him safe or offer any comfort. The morning sounds die out as a soft upbeat piano starts, Jones Dawson shrugs with a grin to the audience.
Jones Dawson: Wow! Well here I am. New school new me, right? Man I already miss ParkView high. But it’s okay it’s only a little less than a year before I graduate and I’ll be out in the real world! I can do this! Go me! Thank you me! No problem me! (Pause) I probably shouldn’t do that if I want to make it through this year alive. Good idea me.

Suddenly Jones Dawson breaks off into song.

Jones Dawson: (Singing “New School, New Me”)
Well!
Here I am.
Another day another dollar, at least that what my grand daddy used to tell me.
Well, It’s a good thing I didn’t quite believe him.
Or else I’d be sitting around saying “Where’s my money!”
And I’ve traveled miles of highway, sometimes in a low way,
And I saw so many places, seen some new faces
Now after all that travel I’ve finally here to say!
It’s new school!
New ME!
Ha!
Badadadum! Ba doo da doo dum! x 3
DA!!!
And I’ve seen times a trying,
I’ve been scared and afraid,
But all of that’s over,
Because now i’m here and I’m here to

RIP Chloe Henry. I didn't really know her that much. We used to go to school together and even though we were both really young I remember your kindnes. All I hear people say about you is how much you cared about everyone and how nice and sweet you were. It's not fair to anyone to have to go through what happened to you. And it's not fair for any parents to have their child pass away. It's not fair how young you were and how many things you never had a chance to do. When I found out about this it made me feel absolutely terrible and I still do whenever I think about this injustice. We all love you and pray for you. You did nothing to deserve this. It makes me so fucking pissed off this happened I don’t understand how this coud be done. We all…

A few minutes later, Jason walks over and stands in front of me at the Labrae table. He can see that I am bothered. His exterior has softened – a little. He asks why I was crying and I told him it was because of the way he talked to me and that I would not be able to get my doughnuts out on time. But there was more to it than that: I was worried that he would unfairly use this incident as an opportunity to support his claim that I could not “cut it” as a baker.…

I grabbed my backpack and wearily headed to my same school, to my same locker, next to the same people. Sadly unlike Carnitas, this gets old. But this day, immediately changed. “We’re back to the Beav!” My dad would mockingly say this to embarrass me when telling family about my decision to transfer back into Beaverton School District. I had attended BSD schools my entire life; Montclair Elementary, then the International School of Beaverton for Junior High, but in the summer of 8th grade, I decided to switch to Woodrow Wilson High School. I had found an interest in Computer Programming, and felt that I wanted to pursue my passion. Wilson High has a very well-known Technology program, so I applied for a transfer and was accepted. Coming into my first day of Freshman year, I didn’t know a single person in my grade, but I wasn’t concerned about that. I quickly made friends, and settled down into place. The year was…

I waited until the moon rose on the horizon before I scaled the side of Dawson’s house. I waited in his front yard a few hours after exiting the house, and I saw him pass by the same window multiple, so I figured it led to his bedroom. However, he closed the curtains about an hour or so before I thought it was acceptably dark, so there was not an easy way to tell, though I could still see light peeking out through the cracks. If it was not, then it would not really matter. His parents would not be able to see me once I cloaked myself, and from there, I would be able to find Dawson fairly easily.…
