loudness. However, it all comes together to sound wonderful.
After the Piece Name and Composer Was Revealed:
Symphony No.
92 in G, "Oxford" was composed in 1789 by Joseph Haydn, a famous composer in Europe. This piece is also widely known as “the Oxford Symphony,” It was named “Oxford” because it has been said that Haydn had performed this particular piece in Oxford University when he received his honorary degree. This symphony was composed along with two others as a group. French Count d'Ogny helped Haydn become involved in the Loge Olympique Concerts, which is why these symphonies were made possible. Because of its unique structure, Haydn’s works quickly became extremely popular in Europe and he became one of the most famous musicians at the time.
I think this piece may have been composed for a peaceful event because of how laid back the instruments sound. The year this symphony was composed, which was 1789, was when the French Revolution first began. I think this historical event really corresponds to this piece composed by Haydn. The slow, mellow notes may represent the peace that France once had before the war broke out. The loud, sped up notes that were played vigorously may represent the chaos that lasted for ten years, until the French Revolution finally came to an end. This symphony has inspired me to listen to slower and more relaxing
pieces.
