As children are born every day, parents want to give their children every chance at a normal and strong childhood. While the infant is not able to speak or express his or her opinion, a mother takes every opportunity to make sure the infant is medically stable. While the child is being fed by the mother, she is able to use byproducts that are marketed as the best milk for infants or is able to breast feed for natural nutrients from mother to child. While mothers are able to search for byproducts and other resources the main goal is keep the child healthy.…
A 43 year old woman had a mass in her right thigh for approximately one month before she went to her doctor. The doctor gave her an examination and found the mass to be firm, painless, and stationary. He then followed up with ultrasound and MRI testing. The results reveled the size shape and location of the mass. Surgery was scheduled to remove the mass. When it was dissected a gel like substance spilled out indicating a ganglion cyst. They did a microscopic examination of the cyst and it showed a dense fibrous wall.…

I choose the article What Research Says About…/ Differentiated Learning because this is a relative topic that teachers are implementing in the classroom. The article states how teachers are dealing with students that are not only different due to cultural but most importantly, these students are on different cognitive levels. The research in this article goes on to tell us how beneficial it is for students to be meet at their zone of proximal development. Some of the examples that are stated is grouping students for instruction and responding to students learning style. From both of these methods they have seen improvement in children academic achievement. The sole purpose for differentiated instruction is to receive an appropriate education in an inclusive classroom.…
IT is difficult to draw conclusions from infant studies as babies cannot speak or understand instructions properly. It is then hard for people to replicate the findings as they could be false. This therefore weakens both Gibson and bowers study as they used…
Researchers found that babies placed in alternative care situations at birth are at greater risk for delayed motor development. At six months old these babies, whose motor and neurological development were in the normal range, were significantly less likely to smile, reach, roll over, or sit up in comparison to ones left in the care of the birth mothers. The study also showed these babies weighed less and were shorter than ones left in the natural mother's care. Except in extreme drug abuse cases, it may be better to leave babies in the care of their natural mother (Wiley, 1989).…
Although the conditions that Peggy McIntosh writes about in her article “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” are not as present as they were in the past and the United States has been moving away from race being and identifying factor of a person, RACISM is still a modern issue in the US. I would say about seventy percent of what is on that list still is in effect today. Being Latino has proved this to me. Living in specific areas or cities where youth is looked at negatively, me and my friends (black people) were stopped frequently by the cops and multiple times I was the only one that was not searched or had my ID asked for to check my record. Everyone else in my circle never experienced not being checked. When I got curious and asked a cop why this was he responded with “you do not fit the profile of who we are looking for”. The only real difference in appearance with me and my friends was the skin tone.…

The purpose of this study is significant to nursing in that it identifies an especially vulnerable population of neonates and the increased needs of this population. This group of medically at-risk infants should be more closely monitored and followed with regular developmental screenings and frequent visits to the pediatrician in order to identify areas in which they may be lacking in development. Families of these infants need education regarding cognitive and motor development and guidelines of when their child should reach specific milestones. These families also need a plan to assist their child in attaining these milestones.…
