NASA sent a spacecraft to Mars. Early in the morning they started to receive a series of beeps which means it has made it to Mars. This spacecraft was called Juno . It took a totle of 5 years for this craft to make it to Mars when it left in 2011 out of Florida. This aircraft has traveled so many miles it, it traveled around 1.8 billion miles. Juno is now doing a orbit around Mars. This is the closest an aircraft has ever been to Mars.…
All of the planets in our solar system with the exception of Earth are named after Roman Gods Mercury is the god of travel and thievery in Roman mythology. The planet is probably named after this god because it moves quickly across the sky. Venus is the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is undoubtedly named after her because it makes a beautiful sight in the sky. Earth is the only planet whose English name does not come from Greek/Roman mythology. Mars is the Roman god of War. The planet probably got this name due to its red color. Jupiter is the King of the Gods in Roman mythology, making the name a good choice for what is, by far the largest planet in our solar system. Saturn is the Roman god of agriculture. Uranus is the ancient Greek god of the Heavens, the earliest supreme god.…

Quickly I went to get my father out of his bed and ran to towards the gate. When we almost got there my father started to slow down so I drag him to the gate. And when I got through the gate, my father got caught half through the gate then he pushes me through the gate with a very strong strength that I didn't know he had. I was scared and worried about my father but at the same time my father want this for me so I was running fast as I can to start a new life my father want me to have. Suddenly I heard a gun fire then I couldn't move, couldn't breathe and started crying at the moment I saw straight…

Sending Curiosity, a space rover, to mars is much more difficult than sending people into outer space for 2 major reasons: the amount of collaboration/effort and planning. NASA said that this mission “introduced the world to one of the most daring, inventive feats of engineering the world had ever witnessed: the pinpoint landing of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars.” In addition, “no mission this ambitious had ever been attempted in the past” and “the landing presented problems that could not be compared directly to anything done before.”…
April 4th, 2011, was the day failure grasped me. I was pulled out my room at five in the morning and shipped off to the middle of nowhere, Idaho. My final destination that day ends up being a campsite, in the desert, with nine complete strangers. For thirty-six days I was in the Shoshone desert. I dealt with snow and experienced one of the hottest days…
My life, for 2 days, completely ended. I was marched through the prison in shackles, I was laughed at, and I was mocked. (PAUSE) I was hated. All because I’m an actor, I never was drunk, I never did kill someone, this never actually happened. It was all an act, an act to teach people the horrors of drinking and driving - and the consequences thereof. I still get the shakes from thinking about it. Thinking about how real everything was, the pain, the suffering, the tears, the fear. I’ll never forget how Every 15 Minutes changed me, and how it made my life just a little bit different - by that I mean, it gave me a new outlook, to really appreciate the here and now, rather than fret…

I was so excited! We sat in plane and I was always asking my mom and dad about when we will ascend? So, the plane started moving and everything was so, so exciting!!! We flew up and we were watching TV in a plane. It was so astonishing to look through the window to that white, milky sky. We were flying 14 hours. We finally arrived! I t was so hot in New – York. The month passed and we got new home, new school, new friends, and my mom and dad got new job. My life started again. I was going to experience new things in…
After we were all on the boat we had to go through a beautiful inlet that lead out into the ocean. We were then instructed on how put our life jackets and harnesses on. The instructor decided that I was going to be the first one to go up in the air. I made my way to the front of the boat and sat down on the deck so he could hook the parachute to my harness. Without a warning he let the parachute go and then I was ascending up into the air almost felt like the speed of light! As I was going up, he shook the line to scare me. Finally when I reached 500 feet, I could see the shore line. It was a breath taking view. I could see giant sea turtles and I even saw a shark. I was in the air about 30 minutes. Then I started descending down. When I was close to the boat, he dunked me into the same water where I had just moments earlier seen the shark and the sea turtles.…
What does a planet need to have in order to support life? Earth is unique in our solar system because it is the only planet that is supporting life. Some scientists go so far as to say that the Earth is a “perfect planet” because it has features that are the perfect environment for living organisms; these features include our atmosphere, water, and a single moon. Earth is also in a place in our solar system where the Sun gives off the right amount of energy to drive the life. The distance from the Earth to the Sun determines how much of that heat we receive. If it weren’t for our ozone layer and Earth’s magnetic field, harmful rays would penetrate our surface and life would be exterminated. Everything the Earth has to offer us is balanced perfectly to keep life continuous.…
