Motorcycle Diary:
Journeys involve obstacles: * When Alberto has to swim across a lake in which it represents a physical obstacle in the journey in which Ernesto is asthmatic with his own choice decides to swim across the lake in which the nuns try to hold him back but the underprivileged encourage him on the other side . Tracking shot of Ernesto swimming across the lake gives a sense of progress and also a sense of him overcoming his obstacle. * When Ernesto is on the ship he has an asthmatic attack in which Fuser comes to help him overcome the challenge of the asthmatic attack by injecting him with adrenaline shot. The use of the close up shot of Ernesto’s face shows us how much pain Ernesto is in.
Journeys allow people to gain new insights: * Ernesto and Alberto leave Valparaiso, Chile they meet a couple of communist who end up staying together for the night and they learn the injustice and suffering they have been through. The camera zooms in to show them around the campfire, the voice over of Ernesto tells us he has learnt that there is so much suffering and injustice. * They arrive at the Leper colony in which they meet the people and experience the suffering of the underprivileged people and how they are treated unfairly by the rich people. The effect of the long shot tells the responder that the ill and health are separated.

Journeys involve obstacles: * Protagonist starts his schooling life and he gets teased for his name ’’PI’’ they calling him ‘’Pissing’’ the protagonist over comes his obstacle next year by stating what Pi means .The uses of the voice over is to grab the attention of the responder. The voice over also gives the responder a better understanding of the story of Pi. * Journeys involve emotional obstacles in which the protagonist in the life of Pi has lost his family. The protagonist holding on to the pole in which he is screaming his mums and dads name in frustration trying to find them.
