Judiciary of Bangladesh comprises the Supreme Court and Subordinate courts. Following discussion will illustrate structure of both:
Supreme Court of Bangladesh:
Supreme Court has two divisions: 1) Appellate division 2) High Court division.
Judges of Appellate division and High Court:
Chief justice and the judges appointed to the appellate division sit only at appellate division and judges appointed to High court division sit only in the high court division. [Article 94(3)]
Appointment of chief justice and other judges of Supreme Court
The chief justice and other judges are appointed by the president.

Qualification for appointment as a judge:
A person is not qualified for appointment as a judge unless he is a citizen of Bangladesh and
a) Has for not less than 10 years been an advocate of the supreme court
b) Has , for not less than 10 years , held judicial office in the territory of Bangladesh; or
c) Has such other qualification as may be prescribed by law
[Article 95(2)]
Additional Supreme Court Judges:
If the president is satisfied that the number of judges of a division of a supreme court should be for the time being increased, the president may appoint one or more duly qualified persons to be additional judges of the division for such period not exceeding two years.
Supreme Judicial council:
Supreme judicial council is consisted of the chief justice and the two next senior judges.
Function of Supreme Judicial council:
a) To prescribe a code of conduct to be observed by the judges.
