Lorber’s Article Response: From the article I have read, this demonstrated the differentiation between the two words “sex” and “gender.” This revealed how many individuals display certain characteristics of what gender they choose to be. Others like to stay in what is considered normal and full of structure because of the ability of being able to reproduce. The article describes how it affects society whether it’s in the personal life and in the work place. We are made to be set in certain gender roles because of culture such as their example of African culture and other cultures who proclaims the ways of how to act, how to dress, and mature and nurtured in the sex they were born with. …show more content…
It branches off of how we are wrapped around a social institution where we would need to know who is what based of clothing, persona, and other exterior characteristics. Also the social construction of a person when they grow up and mature in the sex that they choose the change or continue to pursue in the Western side of society. The Western side of society provides equality in the workplace and in personal lives when it came to people. For instance when Judith Lorber presents in her article about Billy Tipton. Billy Tipton who was a famous musician who was born originally a woman but lived the adult life as a man. Judith is reveals the society as a whole to have “difference” because of structure of living the life as a man or a woman since they were born.
