a. The Dinner Party is an interesting piece of artwork. When I first saw this piece, I was a bit confused as to why Judy Chicago would do such a thing. Many people these days get so offended when there are female body parts being displayed out in the open. I see this piece as a equality-provoking type of piece. I felt that happy that someone made this. People are constantly shaming women for doing the same thing as men as if we’re committing a crime.
b. The goal of the work to me is to seek for equality. This was made during the feminist movement to help support us. There are so many women accomplishing big things but they are overlooked because we are simply a “woman.” Many people tend to think of women as the weaker ones. a. I think Serrano’s work is good art. This artwork made me think. I kept thinking why? These days we see the cross everywhere but we never really ponder too deeply about it. Jesus was crucified and bled to death. He also peed on himself. When looking at the cross we don’t usually think about the story too much because it goes over our heads and I feel like this artwork makes us stop and think. Not only that, many people use the cross as an accessory. They think of it as a fashion statement rather than what it really represents. There are few who actually wear it for what it represents.
b. Religious symbols and images can belong to anyone. It’s how a person personally depicts it. No one can truly determine the way in which it should be represented or used in art because there are many ways. Each person has a certain meaning or expression to a symbol. Some people may hold that meaning dear to their heart, and others not so much. Just because we feel very strongly about a symbol meaning should not mean that we should bash how another person feels towards
