Nero Claudius Caesar, was born under the name Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, in the year 37 AD and was adopted by his uncle, Emperor Claudius. Nero’s mother had married Claudius after the death of her late husband. She later killed poised Claudius, leaving the throne wide open for 17 year old Nero. In his 5 years as emperor, Nero became highly disliked by both his citizens and fellow members of the Roman government. Nero is probably the most infamous Roman emperor, as he had assassinated his wife, mother along with numerous other people assassinated. He is also infamously known for his widespread massacre of Christians, which he blamed for the great Roman fire. He committed suicide, when he realized that everyone was against him in 68…

In all actuality Shakespeare portrayed Julius Ceasar very closely in his play to what it really was in real life with only a few slight differences and also in the play the stroy is shortened down quite a bit from what really happens after Ceasar is assassinated. For example in the play Caesar is portrayed as a noble hero that is struck down by his "allies" without much of a reason. In reality Caesar was power hungry, cruel, devious, ruthless, and extremely ambitious which may have been why he was one of histories greatest military generals. Although in both the play and real life the citizens loved Caesar because he was a strong and powerful leader. In all honesty, his assassins had very good reason to fear him being their emperor.…

“Men may construe things after their fashion, / clean from the purpose of the things themselves” (1.3.34-35) says Cicero. People often interpret signs in a way that will benefit them, but instead of warning what might happen, the problems, the wrong interpretation can lead to bad events. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare shows through a series of events that being careful is important. The characters’ situational misinterpretations show that by misunderstanding the signs and their warnings, chaos can happen.…

The art of persuasion dates back to before the time of William Shakespeare and Julius Caesar and has been used excessively in literature throughout history. The art of persuasion has no boundaries, anyone may use it. It does not matter their social or economic status. Though the method used may be different, the goal is always the same, to get the subject to support the cause at hand. It encourages them to think or behave in a certain way, perhaps to change their opinion, or to make them believe as the persuader wants them to believe. Throughout William Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Julius Caesar, there is an uncountable amount of flattery and persuasion. Cassius uses flattery to persuade Brutus to join the Conspiracy, Decius uses flattery when speaking with Caesar to persuade Caesar to agree with him, and Antony uses persuasive language to flatter Brutus into doing what he wants. Language is a strong factor in persuading both readers and characters in the Tragedy of Julius Caesar.…

I sighed and leaned back into my seat. It made a squeaky noise. I had just been given as assignment where I needed to write about a person who had made a great influence in my life. As I sat silently and listened in my seat, my mind went racing to the past, searching for ideas and digging up precious memories. It had been years since I looked back at those memories but I still remember them. By the end of class that day, I had already decided on whom to write about. I remember that momentous time in my life like it was yesterday.…
