Junior often can’t get to school due to poverty, so his whole education could be affected. The “Junior Gets to School,” (88) picture is describing the different ways he gets to school. Sometimes, when his parents have no gas money, Junior has to hitchhike, find another ride, or sometimes, not even able to get to school. This potentially could change his entire future for jobs and opportunities. Furthermore, Junior is uncertain everyday if he will have transportation to education that day. In addition to hitchhiking, a potential killer could be picking him up. He may never get to see his family ever again if some mysterious person picks him up. Meanwhile, Junior’s family will have to suffer and agonize over him missing. All of these ways are dangerous for Junior, but he has no choice, like many in poverty. …show more content…
The “‘Are you poor?’” (128) picture describes ways Junior responds to this distressing question. This causes a great challenge for Junior because it is embarrassing for him. Many people would feel just like Junior if they were presented this question. Going off of that, he might have to miss fun opportunities. As a result, his friends might stop inviting him so it doesn’t make him feel bad saying no. Poverty may prevent him from making friends since some people look down at him for having no assets. At Reardan, certain scholars didn’t want to associate with him seeing that he was poor. Jumping ahead, people in an interview may not want to hire him assuming, since he’s poor, that he can’t work
